Vicky bhai

A girl stood inside the temple with her hands folded in prayer and her eyes closed.

She was wearing a beautiful white Anarkali with delicate golden work along the border. A golden net dupatta rested gracefully over her shoulder.

Her thick, wavy hair fell all the way to her waist, swaying gently behind her. A few loose strands framed her face, while her deep black eyebrows enhanced her natural beauty.

Her naturally pink lips remained still, reflecting the peace within her.

Slowly, she opened her eyes.

Her lashes fluttered, revealing a pair of incredibly beautiful brown eyes. There was nothing but serenity in them, along with a quiet love and devotion for God.

Just then, a voice called out from behind her, "Anmol!"

The girl, Anmol, immediately turned around.

A girl was standing behind her. She was Anmol's friend.

The girl said, "Come on, hurry up. I'm freezing!"

Anmol turned toward the temple one last time, bowed her head respectfully, and then walked out.

She slipped her feet into her shoes and walked toward her friend.

Her friend, Charu, walked alongside her.

Charu said, "I don't understand why you keep coming here when we already have a temple at home. What do you even get by coming here?"

Anmol replied in her sweet voice, "Peace."

Charu glanced at her once and simply shook her head.

She said, "Girls your age go out for coffee with their boyfriends, have tea, hang out and enjoy themselves. And then there's you, going around visiting temples."

Anmol listened quietly.

As they walked down the stairs, her eyes fell on an elderly man sitting on the steps.

The moment she saw him, Anmol took off her sweater and gently helped him put it on.

Charu continued talking as she walked ahead.

But when she realized Anmol wasn't responding, she immediately turned around and called out, "Hey, answer me!"

The moment she turned, her eyes fell on Anmol.

Seeing Anmol helping the old man with such genuine kindness, a warm smile instantly spread across Charu's lips.

Anmol took some food from her bag and gave it to the elderly man. The old man placed his hand gently on her head, blessing her.

Anmol smiled softly.

She then straightened up and began walking down the stairs.

As soon as she reached Charu, Charu placed a hand against her cheek and said, "Oh my God, girl, you're so adorable! Just become my sister-in-law already. My brother has been crazy about you for ages."

Anmol lightly tapped her on the head and said, "Shut up and come on."

Anmol unlocked her bicycle while Charu climbed onto her scooter.

Charu had asked Anmol several times to ride with her on her scooter, but Anmol was happy with whatever she had.

If she had a bicycle, she didn't feel the need to ride around in someone else's vehicle, nor did she ever do so.

She believed that she would only ride a vehicle once she could afford one herself.

She wasn't someone who craved expensive or luxurious things.

Whatever she earned through her own hard work was enough to make her happy.

Anmol started pedaling, and her bicycle moved forward. Charu rode her scooter alongside her.

After some time, the two friends stopped at a point where they said goodbye to each other and went their separate ways, since their homes were in completely different directions.

Anmol stopped her bicycle in front of a house.

She put the bicycle inside a small room and then walked into the house.

The house wasn't too big, nor was it too small.

It was spacious enough for a family of four.

Anmol suddenly heard some voices coming from upstairs.

Hearing them, she placed her bag on the sofa and quickly climbed the stairs.

When she reached the upper floor, she saw Alok and Amrita standing near a door.

Amrita was repeatedly knocking on the door and calling out to Aparna.

Both of them looked extremely worried.

Anmol couldn't understand what was happening and walked toward them.

Still banging on the door, Amrita pleaded, "Appu, please open the door. What kind of childish behavior is this?"

From inside, Aparna shouted, "I'm not opening it! Neither of you loves me even a little! I don't want to talk to anyone!"

Alok and Amrita became even more distressed.

Anmol walked up to them and asked, "What happened, Mom?"

Amrita looked at Anmol and said, "Anu, look at her. Appu won't open the door. I don't know what she's doing inside. I'm scared."

Anmol also became a little worried.

She asked, "But what happened, Mom? Why has Di locked herself inside?"

At Anmol's question, Alok and Amrita exchanged a glance.

Anmol looked at both of them one after another.

She could tell that something was definitely wrong.

Amrita finally told her, "We... we went to ask for Appu's hand in marriage to Vikram."

Anmol already knew that Aparna loved Vikram.

She had seen the two of them together several times and had even seen their pictures.

Amrita continued, "They agreed to the marriage, but they put forward one condition."

Anmol immediately asked, "What condition?"

Amrita fell silent.

She wasn't sure whether she should tell her or not.

She looked at Alok.

Alok finally said, "They want you to marry their elder son."

The moment Anmol heard this, she stared at her father in shock.

Marriage.

Anmol had never even thought about marriage.

She had so much she wanted to accomplish.

She wanted to become an IAS officer.

She wanted to serve people.

She wanted to stand on her own feet and build a life through her own efforts.

Hearing those words felt like a sudden shock to her.

She was left completely stunned.

wever, kept looking back toward Aparna's room.

She asked hesitantly, "W-What did you say?"

Alok immediately replied, "We said no."

The moment Anmol heard that, she felt relieved.

But then Amrita said, "They are willing to wait until their elder son gets married. So we told them that we would come back later. But Appu just isn't willing to understand."

Suddenly, Aparna shouted from inside the room, "Who knows when he'll get married? Why should I put my life on hold because of him? I want to get married too! I want to spend my life with Vikram. This is the right age for me to get married. What's the point of getting married after I've grown old?"

All three of them looked toward the room.

Alok said to Aparna, "So what do you want? Do you want us to put Anu's entire life at risk just so you can get married? You know what that man is like, don't you? What if something happens to Anu?"

Aparna's voice came from inside again, "So you're only thinking about one daughter? Don't you care about me? You don't want to see me happy. Anu... Anu, you understand me, right? I want to be with Vikram. I want to marry him and settle down with him now."

Anmol could only stare at the closed door.

She didn't know what to say.

She was completely speechless.

Alok was beginning to lose his temper.

Aparna was talking as though she were being completely selfish.

Yes, she had always been a little selfish when it came to herself, but what she was saying today had gone too far.

Alok grabbed Anmol's hand and began walking away with her.

After walking some distance, he turned around and looked at Amrita.

In a slightly stern voice, he said, "Why are you standing there for? Come on."

Amrita glanced at the closed door one last time before following them.

Alok was still holding Anmol's hand as he led her away.

Anmol, however, kept looking back toward Aparna's room.

Two days passed just like that.

Aparna didn't come out of her room at all. She neither spoke to anyone nor ate anything. Her behavior had left all three of them extremely worried.

Anmol continued going to college and her tuition classes. Before leaving, she would always stop by Aparna's room and call out to her, but she never received a response.

That night...

Anmol was sitting on a chair, studying.

Her entire focus was on her studies. Whenever Anmol concentrated on something, she completely lost track of everything happening around her.

Suddenly, she felt someone's hand on her head.

She immediately looked up.

Her father, Alok, was standing beside her.

The moment Anmol saw him, she said, "Papa."

There was a helplessness in Alok's eyes.

Anmol knew the reason behind that helplessness all too well.

Her father loved both his daughters dearly. He couldn't bear to see either of them unhappy.

But today, his elder daughter was hurting badly, and watching her suffer was becoming almost unbearable for him.

Alok said helplessly, "Anu, I don't know how to say this to you."

Anmol silently looked at her father, trying to understand what he was struggling to say.

Alok continued, "You know how stubborn Appu is. She hasn't opened her door for two days. I don't know how to make her understand. She just isn't willing to listen to anything."

The helplessness in his voice was unmistakable.

Aparna's behavior was hurting him deeply, and Anmol understood that perfectly.

Alok gently placed his hand on Anmol's cheek and said, "Anu, can I ask you for something?"

Anmol blinked, looking at him quietly.

Alok gathered all his courage and finally said, "Will you marry Vikrant... for your Appu Di?"

The moment Alok said those words, Anmol froze.

For a moment, she couldn't believe her ears.

She couldn't believe that the words she had just heard were actually coming from her father.

Just two days ago, Alok had told Anmol not to worry about any of this.

He had promised that he would find some way to make Aparna understand and somehow resolve the situation.

Anmol had believed him.

She had been certain that her father would find a solution to everything.

And Alok had genuinely tried over the past two days to reason with Aparna.

But he had never imagined that, this time, Aparna's stubbornness would go this far.

Aparna wasn't willing to understand anything at all.

Alok had started getting scared that she might hurt herself inside the room.

At this point, he couldn't see any other option.

Because of Aparna's behavior, he hadn't even had the chance to properly think about Anmol.

He had simply prayed to God that nothing bad would happen to Anmol, and only then had he come to talk to her.

Anmol stammered, "B-But Papa... my studies..."

At that moment, all Anmol could see was her dream falling apart.

She had dreamed of becoming an IAS officer and helping people. And now, she could see everything she had worked toward slipping away from her.

Alok placed his hand gently on Anmol's cheek and said, "I'll talk to them about it. I'll put a condition forward too. I'll tell them that you must be allowed to continue your studies. I know what your dream is. I don't want your dream to break either. But, beta, the situation is such that I don't know what else to do."

Anmol lowered her head.

She began thinking.

At first, all she could see was her dream.

But then, she saw her Appu Di.

Aparna loved Vikram so deeply that she wouldn't be able to live without him.

Alok kept watching Anmol.

His only fear was that Anmol might refuse.

What if she thought about her own dream and said no?

But after thinking about Aparna, Anmol slowly lifted her head and looked at her father.

Alok was looking at her with hopeful eyes.

Anmol slowly nodded and said, "Okay, Papa. I'm ready to get married."

The moment Alok heard her answer, a wave of relief appeared on his face.

He kissed Anmol's forehead and said, "Thank you, beta."

He wished her good night and left.

After her father was gone, Anmol looked at the book lying on the bench.

She stared at it for a while, but she no longer felt like studying.

Her mind was now filled with countless thoughts.

Anmol knew absolutely nothing about Vikrant.

She had never even seen him.

Most of Anmol's attention had always been focused on her studies and helping people. She hardly paid attention to anything else.

She didn't even know that the man her father was asking her to marry was a gangster.

The only thing running through Anmol's mind was how her life would change after marriage.

Would she be able to continue her studies?

Would she still be able to pursue her dream?

Anmol was completely confused.

She spent the entire night thinking about everything.

Sleep simply wouldn't come.

Her eyes would close for a minute or two, only to open again the very next moment.

And the night passed with Anmol lost in thoughts about a future she knew nothing about.

The next day...

Anmol and Charu were entering through the college gate.

Charu was riding her scooter, while Anmol was walking beside her, pushing her bicycle.

Anmol had already told Charu everything.

Charu was her best friend, so Anmol trusted her blindly.

There was disappointment all over Anmol's face, and Charu could clearly see it.

Charu said, "Should I tell my brother to elope with you and take you somewhere far away?"

Anmol glared at Charu and said, "If that were an option, wouldn't I have run away myself?"

Charu thought about it for a moment and nodded. "Yeah... that's true too."

Charu began thinking of some other idea for her best friend.

She didn't want Anmol to get married so soon either.

Seeing how deeply Charu was thinking, Anmol said, "Stop thinking so much. Focus on your studies. I'm sure you haven't prepared for today's test at all."

Charu scratched her hair while flashing an awkward grin.

She hadn't studied at all.

Charu wasn't particularly interested in studying.

Anmol sighed deeply and said, "I knew it. There's no way you earned the record of failing the same class three times without trying."

Charu was actually Anmol's senior.

The class they were currently in was a class Charu had already failed three times.

She was now repeating the same academic year for the fourth time.

Charu complained, "Oh, come on! What am I supposed to do? Every time I open a book, my eyes automatically close. I don't know what kind of personal rivalry my eyes have with books."

Anmol stared at her for a few moments.

She parked her bicycle to the side, locked it, and walked ahead.

Charu quickly locked her scooter as well, got off, and hurried after her.

Catching up with Anmol, Charu suddenly asked, "By the way, what did you say your future husband's name was?"

Anmol answered without showing much interest, "Some Vikrant Shergill."

Charu's eyes widened in shock.

She suddenly shouted, "WHAT?!"

Her loud voice made several students nearby turn around and look at them.

Anmol immediately turned around too, startled by Charu's sudden scream.

She looked around at everyone and then glared at Charu.

Charu realized that she had shouted far louder than she should have.

After quickly glancing around, she walked over to Anmol.

She grabbed Anmol's hand and pulled her to the side.

Charu looked extremely worried.

Charu took her to a quiet, empty corner and said, "Oh God, who are you going to marry? Have you lost your mind? Don't you even know who Vikrant Shergill is?"

Anmol shook her head.

The innocent expression on her face made her look completely clueless.

Charu said, "Oh God, he's the biggest gangster in this city! People start trembling the moment they come face-to-face with him. Even the police can't do anything against him. People play Holi with colors, but he plays Holi with blood."

The moment Anmol heard all this, she went completely numb.

There was fear in Charu's eyes as well.

She continued, "People tremble just hearing his name, and you... you're going to marry him? The entire city knows about that gangster. People start stammering just talking about him, and you don't even know anything about him!"

Even Charu was trembling as she spoke about Vikrant.

It was as though Vikrant himself were standing right in front of her.

Charu looked around cautiously before continuing, "People don't even dare to take his name here. No one calls him by his real name. Only his own people are allowed to call him by his name. The entire city knows him as Vicky Bhai."

After saying all this, Charu looked down at her hands.

Goosebumps had risen all over her arms from fear.

I hope you all like my story.
